Barcelona in close range to force Alexandre Lacazette

Gunners centre-forward Alexandre Lacazette is in no rush to sign a new contract with Arsenal, with Barcelona reportedly monitoring his situation. France international, who has two years left to run on his existing deal with the London club, has made a bright start to the 2019-20 campaign, scoring two goals in three matches.

Since moving the Emirates Stadium from Lyon in 2017, Alexandre has hit a total of 37 goals in 91 games across all tournaments, while forging a fearsome partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang upfront. Blaugrana were set to launch a bid for Lacazette, but they ended up bringing in Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid instead.

Gunners are keen on tieing the 28-year-old striker down to fresh terms at Arsenal, but he is waiting to make a final decision on his future. The French centre-forward is not yet set to sign a new deal, despite continued links to the Catalan club, who might be tempted to reignite their pursuit next summer.

He wants to get back to playing in the UCL as quickly as possible, with Gunners forced to play in the Europa League after finishing fifth in the Premier League last season.

Should the London club manage to return to the top four by next May, there is every chance Alexandre will commit his long-term future to the Gunners.

La Liga giants have the financial capabilities to lure Lacazette to Camp Nou next year, but if Griezmann can prove himself upfront alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, they may not need to bring in any extra strikers
